Be honest. Why are you in business?
To sell something.
This product or service may solve a problem, entertain, or be useful in other means, but we’re all working to make a living. The better we understand the minds of those we sell to, the more successful we’ll be.
There are certain psychological triggers that convince people to buy. Armed with these techniques, you can get people to do what you want and explode your business. But do you know what these triggers are? Can you use them effectively to really boost your business?
Each of us is driven by our desire to:
- Make money
- Save money
- Avoid pain
- Put forth less effort
- Save time
On the flip side, we are driven by our fear of:
- Not making money
- Losing money
- Feeling pain
- Wasting effort
- Wasting time
So let’s tap into this. Incorporating these ideas into your web copy can have a huge effect on your sales. If your service is house cleaning, you can take each of the principles above to create your sales pitch.
For example: We know you don’t have time to clean your house. Moreover, you’re probably not thrilled at the prospect of doing it anyway. What if we said you could save money and save time, all without lifting a finger? But wait! What if you also got to come home to a sparkling and spotlessly clean house?! It’s easy. You do your job and we’ll do ours. It’ll cost you less to pay us than what you’ll make working and you can actually see the benefits with your own eyes! So do the math and give us a call!
In the above example, we focused on making money, saving money, saving time and putting forth less effort. How can you use people’s driving fears and desires to increase your sales?
Understanding and using psychological sales tools will fully put you ahead of 95% of the other marketers out there, whether you’re selling online, offline or both. The human mind responds to certain triggers in a very predictable way.
To fully understand better and even more powerful techniques, I highly recommend:
The Buy Impulse: 26 Mind Control Tools That Get More Customers Who Spend More Money More Frequently
With 69 pages of thought provoking, real life proven techniques, this book really got me thinking about the opportunities I’d missed with my clients and ways to fix that for the future. I found the Unfinished Business rule to be very interesting, and it made me rethink the way I’ve set up my websites. This one rule will change the way I do business.
The Dirty Laundry rule is one many people avoid to their own detriment. How many sales have you lost because of this? This ebook will really open your eyes about what’s going on in each of our minds and how you can use it to your advantage. Each rule is explained with examples, so you can easily see what is being taught.
Online or offline, it will help you in ways you never imagined. It’s great stuff.
