My name is Do (like Doe a deer) Engelhardt and I’m a web designer. I have my own business, Fluid Elements Web Design and I work primarily on small business websites throughout the country. I have experience in web design, web development, search engine optimization and writing copy for the web. In addition, I do some graphic design and provide marketing consultations for clients to better promote their websites and make them more ’sticky’ (basically providing content and devices to keep people on your site longer and coming back). Because my main focus is on small business and I own one myself, I have a good understanding of the field. I also provide website evaluations to give clients with existing sites a list of things to work on and improve.
My goal here is to provide people with the information they need to understand their business websites. We live in a day and age where not having one is almost impossible, yet many people don’t understand them and get overwhelmed when trying to learn more. If you don’t even know the right kinds of questions to ask, how can you find out what you need to be successful? Instead of completely trusting in someone else and not being able to reach your own goals, this blog is here to help you learn the necessities. It won’t be scary. It won’t be overwhelming. Each post will be bite sized and easily understandable.
I encourage small business owners to consult with a web designer and come up with a plan, not only for their site, but for maintaining and marketing it as well. There are many, many, tips and tricks that can be applied to keep visitors coming back. Just having a site built and doing nothing with it is a waste of time and money. Like everything else in life, you need to invest time into it for the best results. New content added regularly helps your search engine ranking. Interactive or involvement devices keep people interested and on your site longer in these days of Web 2.0 interactivity. The right sales copy can sell your product while you sleep. Don’t fall into the trap of thinking a website is a one-time investment that can just be left from there. Depending upon your target audience, goals and focus, there are a lot of ideas that can be implemented to help promote your site, your business and ultimately, boost your sales.
On a personal note, I live in beautiful Pagosa Springs, a small mountain town in southwestern Colorado. I was a foster mother for three years to a small boy and adopted him when he was four. He’s now 11 and trying my patience on a VERY regular basis.
If you have a question about something that hasn’t been covered, be sure to ask. I also welcome your suggestions to improve this blog and get you the information you need to be in control of your own website!

Hi Do! I really like the way your blog looks. It is very attractive and professional looking. Looking at it has spawned a couple of questions about my site which I am still fine tuning.
